ABOUT US
Books & Bridges is a student led non-profit organization to promote literary, education and mental health among youth in underpriviliged communities. Through fundraisers and community partnerships, we will collect and distribute books, in genres from fiction, non-fiction, STEM and education, to shelters, schools, and learning centers every month where access is limited.
In each shipment box, we will include a short prompt for students to write and reflect on experiences, dreams, careers, and aspirations to encourage writing, literary skills, evoke passions, and scientific interests in return for a book. These organizations can ship the writing back to us, and each month we will highlight responses that stand out and feature it on our social media platforms after seeking individual permission. In addition, we will include personalized notes in each book as motivation to challenge students to pursue their dreams.
Our goal is to not only to give away books but to encourage the pursuit of scientific knowledge, passion and literary among underprivileged communities. Join our mission!
Our
Story
We began Books & Bridges to expand access to books and support youth in underserved communities. The idea was inspired by the realization that many students, especially in shelters and low-income areas, lacked opportunities to read and find inspiration that reflect their lives or challenge their thinking. We saw firsthand how literature could spark curiosity, academic interests, especially with thoughtful reflection.
Through monthly book donations and interactive prompts, we encourage writing, reflection, passion and self-expression. With support from fundraisers and partnerships, we continue to grow—reaching more students, launching chapters, and creating opportunities for lifelong learning and connection.
